ICMC Moonsighting Policy and Ramadan Update
According to ICGT moon sighting procedure, 29th of Sha’ban will be Friday May 26th, and we will be looking for the new moon on Friday evening at sunset, insha Allah. Therefore, the first day of Ramadan will be either on Sat May 27th (first Taraweeh will be Friday night) or Sunday May 28th (first Taraweeh on Sat night).
ICMC has made special arrangement to use the neighboring Fire training Center to park our vehicles at Taraweeh time. Please come early, if you like to park at ICMC. We will have only Imam spot and the handicap parking’s reserved, and other spots will be for first come first serve basis. Those come late and park at the Fire training center, will be shuttled back to ICMC. Please do not walk, but wait for the shuttle. It is not allowed to walk along the road. There is no paved road for walking. After 8 rakah Taraweeh, you need to take the shuttle to bring your car to the Masjid, if you like to continue 20 rakath. The Fire Station gate will be locked by 11:30pm.
ICMC Shura has made special arrangments to accommodate brothers in the second floor and sisters in the first floor of the Masjid. The sisters’ circle of ICMC worked hard to cover the windows in the first floor with nice glass shades for privacy. Please come with your family to observe the special night prayers as well as regular five times prayers at the Masjid.
As in the past, we will be following 4 different groups of Masaajid in North America regarding the moon sighting information, and this year, it is highly possible that from New York to California, everyone will be able to sight the first moon on Friday evening. However, we have to wait for the confirmed sighting and therefore, it is possible that we may get the moon sighting news late in the night.
Shaykh, Hafidh Mamdouh Selim will be leading the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at with Isha Iqama at 10:15 pm on Friday evening (Please note the time for Isha at 10:15 PM for the entire month of Ramadan)
